What is an IP Address?
IP essentially stands for Internet Protocol. This protocol helps computers and other devices communicate through a network connection. As seen in the expression, there are different versions of this protocol named IPv4 and IPv6.
Buy Fast ProxyAlthough this protocol is named with the number 4, it is the first version developed for IP. It was released in 1983 and is still in use today, defining devices in networks.
Many elements on the internet benefit from IPv4 addressing schemes. IPv4 addresses have a 32-bit addressing space. This space means approximately 4.3 billion devices in the network. However, it should be noted that some IP blocks are allocated for private use.
IPv6 is the latest known version of IP. Currently, IPv4 is more common. However, a gradual shift to IPv6 is observed. IPv6 has a complex structure and a large number of address spaces. This feature makes it more suitable for use in the IoT industry.
The IPv6 version is 128 bits, consisting of an 8-number sequence. This ratio means a large number of devices. With such an intensive area, the IPv6 version implies that IP address spaces will never run out.
